Mendix, the app platform company for the enterprise, announced that revenue of the Mendix App Platform more than doubled in 2012 compared to the previous year. This concludes yet another year of triple-digit growth, outpacing the already strong growth of the overall application platform as a service (aPaaS) market by a wide margin.
"This tremendous success is testament to the unique innovation opportunity, and value the Mendix App Platform provides to our customers, as well as its increasing adoption throughout the enterprise," said Derek Roos, CEO of Mendix. "We are excited about our growth around the world and are particularly pleased to see North America become our strongest sales region right in the first year of moving our company headquarters to Boston."
2012 marked the move of Mendix headquarters from the Netherlands to Boston, following significant market expansion in North America. The company added many new enterprise customers in North America, South Africa, the United Kingdom and the Netherlands across various industries, including life science, insurance, financial services, telecommunications, transportation, and services, as well as the public sector.
Furthermore, 2012 growth was fuelled by several innovative product releases as well as a very active user community that led to expanded usage of the Mendix App Platform within a company. Mendix users are highly involved - half of all user forum questions were answered within 16 minutes and the average number of projects per company more than doubled in 2012. Roos concludes: "Companies are recognising the potential of the Mendix App Platform for innovation and ROI, and, as a result, are standardising on Mendix for end-to-end app development and deployment."
