Mercedes brings Facebook to dashboard

The features will be standard in the MY13 SL-Class, in a features package known as mbrace 2, which will launch in the spring.

According to PC Magazine, mbrace2 is the second generation of Mercedes-Benz's -based services. Updates will be provided over the air, and mbrace2 works with iOS and Android devices.

Given that many car manufacturers have already incorporated apps like Facebook into their vehicles, Dr Dieter Zetsche, head of Mercedes-Benz Cars, acknowledged that "seamless access is nice, but... that's just what keeps you in the game today".

But, according to Facebook VP of Partnerships and Platform Marketing Dan Rose, the Mercedes version of Facebook reflects the social 's expansion to a growing list of settings where screens and Internet connections are available, Reuters notes.

He noted that Facebook is also increasingly being integrated into televisions, with various TV manufacturers expected to showcase built-in Facebook integration at CES.
