Merchants^1 rapid mobilisation of their call centre capability has enabled World Online, one of SA^1s largest Internet Service Providers, to offer a call centre support function for the unveiling of their Mobile Internet services at Computer Faire 2000.
These include SA^1s first customisable Mobile Internet portal; cellphone access to e-mail - and a personalised e-mail address - even for people who don^1t have a PC.
These services are supported by a Merchants operated helpline which makes becoming Internet mobile as simple as making a cellphone call.
The World Online Mobile Internet helpline is based in the Merchants i-Media Centre in Sandton, where a team of agents assist users over the telephone to configure their WAP-enabled cellphones. The service can be reached on 0860 100 893.
Says Graeme Victor, MD at World Online, "Callers, who don^1t have to be World Online subscribers, won^1t have to do anything else. Provided their handsets have already been fax- and data-enabled by their cellular service providers, operators in our Mobile Internet call centre will configure their handsets for Internet access remotely."
The Merchants i-Media Centre is South Africa^1s first full-service interactive customer management facility. The facility combines traditional call centre services with the full range of i-Media covering fax, email, cellular and Internet-enabled customer management, including Web Chat and Page Push.
The i-Media Centre has an initial capacity of 150 agent seats, with the intention to grow this to 300 seats operating 24x7.
Says Adam Craker, Managing Director at Merchants SA, "Merchants was able to provide World Online with a trained team of agents on a helpline within days of the brief. Merchants existing infrastructure and technologies enabled this rapid set up, and will ensure a high quality of service provided to callers. We are very excited to play a part in South Africa^1s first real drive to get customers WAP-enabled."
