Mercury Interactive Corporation, a Nasdaq-listed global provider of Web performance management solutions, has recently announced that independent market and technology research firm International Data Corporation (IDC), reported that Mercury Interactive was the 1999 worldwide market leader for automated software quality (`ASQ`) tools.
According to the report, "The Distributed Automated Software Quality Tools Market Forecast and Analysis 2000-2004," Mercury Interactive strengthened its overall distributed ASQ leadership position securing 41.4 percent of the market-nearly double that of its closest competitor.
"The company achieved 55 percent growth from 1998 to 1999 primarily due to the strength of its e-business testing solutions."
So says Graeme Allcock, sales manager for Mercury Interactive South Africa, who comments further that, "E-business is now the leading revenue producing market segment for Mercury Interactive, accounting for approximately 75 percent of the company`s business in the second quarter of 2000," Allcock continues.
"High-quality applications that result in a positive user experience are absolutely essential for success in e-business, where the cost of failure is extremely high," points out Dick Heiman, research director of application life-cycle management at IDC.
"Mercury Interactive has remained the leading vendor in automated software testing because it has done an excellent job of recognising market trends and responding with new technologies that help organisations manage the performance of their e-business applications," Heiman continues.
"The critical nature of e-business applications will continue to drive growth of performance management," comments Amnon Landan, president and CEO of Mercury Interactive.
"The inherent complexity of doing business on the Internet raises the bar for software application quality and productivity. Mercury Interactive continues to innovate with products and services that best meet the needs of the evolving e-business enterprise," Allcock concurs.
According to the IDC report, the ASQ tools market reached $931 million in 1999, a 23.6 percent increase over 1998.
"IDC estimates that growth rates for the ASQ tools marketplace will remain strong for the next several years, with worldwide revenues exceeding $2.2 billion in 2004 representing a 1999-2004 CAGR of 39.7 percent," Allcock concludes. Ends
