Merger aims to bring new breed of ASPs to market

Johannesburg, 20 Feb 2001

The imminent merger of ECHold, MGX and CCH has brought a new breed of application provider (ASP) solutions to local companies, which rival those currently available in the US, says Amir Lubashevsky, CEO of ECHold, who adds that this is possible due to the synergies between the companies.

[VIDEO]MGX`s experience in traditional capturing and storage management, together with CCH`s strong development flair and ECHold`s "blue sky" conceptual abilities, and specialist consulting, and security knowledge are an unbeatable combination, he claims.

He says the new offerings - known as ASP++ solutions - include the collection, indexing, storage, securing and backup of a customer`s documentation and data, supported by a full hardware solution. Access can be granted through Internet-based applications and a complete single interface can be created through each customer`s intranet or through an extranet.

Additional features include accessing data via Wireless Application Protocol-enabled devices, the provision of online repositories and a full disaster recovery service.

[VIDEO]"The ASP++ solutions provide storage, service and security; all through a single point of service on the vendor`s side and covered by a service level agreement," states Lubashevsky.

A selection of pricing models has been developed for both corporate and small and medium enterprise clients. These depend on how much data customers need to see, how often and whether they prefer a paper-based or online retrieval method, or a combination of both.

As yet, although there are some corporates abroad already testing installed solutions, there are no firm local deals on the horizon. Lubashevsky is also reluctant to discuss projected revenue streams as the local pricing models have not been finalised.

"We`re confident that we`re offering more comprehensive and complete solutions than anyone out there, that we`re ready to deliver them and that there will be a strong demand for these," he concludes.
