Meru unveils virtualised WLAN infrastructure
IT World Canada writes.
Meru took its WLAN operating system, System Director, and put a VMware wrapper around it, so it can run atop a VMware hypervisor, deployed in rack-mounted x86 servers.
The goal is a WLAN that's easier to deploy, operate and scale as part of an existing virtual server environment.
Telecom Paper says Meru System Director can be deployed on-premise within existing data centres or in private cloud environments.
The cloud-enabled version of System Director further enhances deployment and operation of the WLAN. For private cloud and data centre deployments, enterprises have the additional option of selecting virtual editions of Meru WLAN controllers, purpose built appliances for performance.
Virtual editions of Meru's MC1500, MC3200 and MC4200 Mobility Controllers support the same number of APs and prove the same level of throughput as their dedicated hardware equivalents.
