In a groundbreaking report, Information Builders` WebFOCUS business intelligence tool, marketed in SA by Fujitsu, has been named the overall winner for enterprise reporting and dashboards in an evaluation by the META Group.
Products evaluated in the survey were MicroStrategy, Oracle, Microsoft, SAS, Hyperion, Cognos, Actuate, Business Objects and Information Builders.
The evaluation focused on the technical capabilities of each business intelligence toolset. Seven of the nine criteria used in the analysis evaluated the technical features of each offering, while two criteria, presence and pricing, rated the tools on non-technical attributes. Connectivity also stood out as a key criterion.
Information Builders scored high for distribution, parameter processing, usability, pricing, presence, scalability and performance, development and administration.
Information Builders also scored well in the area of connectivity. This was due to the native data integration the company has developed for a long list of databases, legacy data sources and applications vendors.
"Scalability continues to be a key factor for organisations when considering enterprise reporting solutions," said Kurt Schlegel, senior program director, META Group. "The leading vendor scored exceptionally well in the scalability and performance criterion. No other vendors were able to demonstrate the number of large deployments in the field."
