Metastorm appoints Software Futures as key distributor in SA

Partnership will enable Metastorm to expand presence across the region
Johannesburg, 27 May 2004

Metastorm, a leading provider of business process management (BPM) software for automating, managing and controlling processes today announced that it has appointed Software Futures, one of SA's largest business software specialists, as a leading distribution partner across SA.

Software Futures enables and delivers innovative software solutions to a core customer base of medium and large businesses and government organisations. This partnership enables Software Futures to distribute Metastorm's BPM software throughout SA as part of its best practice consulting business unit.

Software Futures is one of only a small group of South African IT companies that can claim to be fully empowered in line with the Black Economic Empowerment Commission's programme aimed at substantially increasing black participation at all levels in the economy. This is a key requirement for any vendor supplying government departments in SA.

Commenting on the announcement, Trevor van Rensburg, Best Practices Business Unit Manager at Software Futures, said: "We provide the people and technology that enable our customers to achieve their business and IT process improvement initiatives. This partnership allows us to assist our customers with the adoption, implementation and continued management of BPM software. By joining forces with Metastorm, the fastest growing BPM vendor worldwide and one of the leading pure-play BPM players in the market as per the Gartner magic quadrant, we will be better equipped to meet our customers' specific organisational needs. As a result, the benefit to our customers will be immense. We look forward to being part of the increased adoption of Metastorm's BPM software across the country."

Analysts predict that by 2005 at least 90% of large enterprises will have BPM implemented and, BPM technology is predicted to have more impact on the South African insurance market than any other industry in the region during the next three years. This finding, from a 2003 study conducted by Gartner Research (1) into the top financial service providers in SA, is significant considering the insurance industry is classified as a 'technology innovator' within the region. Insurance companies are facing increasing challenges to fulfil their customer needs, support sales forces, and leverage channel networks to distribute products - BPM software is considered an essential tool in order to meet these challenges. Other South African market segments likely to be affected by BPM include banking, telecommunications, manufacturing, healthcare and the public sector.

"Customers are increasingly looking at improving efficiency, control and agility across their mission-critical processes. Metastorm's BPM software provides the power to design, automate, manage, control and improve a company's most complex, people-centric processes," said Neil Berry, country manager for SA, at Metastorm. "Joining forces with a major player such as Software Futures and combining Metastorm's market leading BPM suite with their best practices competence centre will enable us to rapidly extend our success in the South African marketplace and offer our customers a powerful solution that will drive significant value on investment."
