Metastorm, distributed locally by Alliance Partner DVT, has announced financial results for the year ended 31 December 2005, posting record total revenues, 61% growth in the fourth quarter and 34% growth overall.
The 2005 fourth quarter results include the effect of the October 2005 acquisition of CommerceQuest.
A significant increase was seen in the number of enterprise-level business process management software licence sales and investment from existing customers rose to contribute 40% of the company`s revenue for the year.
"Metastorm maintains its focus on delivering robust business process management solutions and helping organisations deliver efficiency, control and agility across the business," says Trevor van Rensburg, products director at DVT.
"During 2005, it took the strategic steps necessary to break away from other vendors in an increasingly competitive market. The CommerceQuest transaction was executed to extend the breadth of the Metastorm BPM suite and to add the necessary revenue and resources for the company to remain a leader during 2006."
The combination of Metastorm and CommerceQuest enabled the former to become the largest pure-play business process management vendor, addressing the complex interactions of both people and system-based process activities with a single solution.
Company achievements in 2005 include IDC recognition as one of the Top 10 BPM worldwide business process automation deployment software vendors; and listing in the Deloitte & Touche Fast 50 list for the third consecutive year.
"Metastorm`s growth enabled the company to surpass the 1 200 customer mark, further strengthening its position as a leader in the business process management software market," Van Rensburg says. "Continued profitability from quarter to quarter reflects a commitment to performance and a focused execution of strategy. With the steadily increasing demand for business process management technology, Metastorm is well positioned to extend its leadership position still further."
Metastorm`s growth was driven by sales to both new and existing customers with 110 new customers added to the company`s portfolio for the year. New customers added include Ernst & Young, KPMG, Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Telenor in Norway. Existing customers expanding their use of Metastorm`s business process management software include Chubb Insurance in the US and Asia, London Underground Limited, UK Home Office and the Washington Wizards NBA Team in the US.
The company`s original equipment manufacturer (OEM) channel partnerships were extended and included an agreement with Thomson Elite to cover the legal vertical and an agreement with Thomson Financial to cover the financial services industry. It finished 2005 with a worldwide presence that includes customers in over 41 countries.
"Metastorm led the market in product innovation in 2005, establishing the definition of `roundtrip business process management` and subsequently releasing a complete BPM suite to address this roundtrip process lifecycle from design to integration, automation, monitoring, analysis, simulation and improvement," Van Rensburg says. "Its business performance management suite was completed with the release of Metastorm Envision for complex process modelling, simulation and cost analysis; and the rapid post-merger integration of its human-centric BPM products with the integration and system-to-system process management capabilities gained from CommerceQuest."
