Mid-sized organisations looking for a secure means of transferring data across networks need look no further than the latest Microcom leased-line and fixed-line modem range.
This is according to Ronny Russell, Microcom business development manager at Comztek. He says the Microcom secure leased-line analogue modems - the Fast Plus 56K and Fast Plus 56K Security - enable data compression of up to 8:1. They also cater for up to 600 user profiles embedded directly in the modem, thereby securing access to company networks. This makes them among the safest communication devices available in SA.
"The Fast Plus 56K supports two-wire and four-wire synchronous and asynchronous modes for leased-line connectivity, and features a call back facility at modem level, which allows interrupted communication to be reconnected without user intervention, as well as remote access.
"In addition to the above, the Microcom Fast Plus 56K Security modem ensures high data security levels through cryptography (DES) and provides remote access. It also features a call back facility at modem level and supports two-wire and four-wire synchronous and asynchronous modes," he says.
Russell points out that most of the Microcom range of modems supports all communication protocols such as V.90 and the more recent V.92 soon to be introduced. The modems are also compatible with most popular operating systems including Windows, as well as Linux and Mac OS9 making them useable with a much wider range of end-user applications.
In addition, thanks to its two-year product carry in warranty, Comztek ensures that end-users are provided with an immediate replacement should a Microcom unit prove to be faulty.
The Microcom Fast Plus 56K and Fast Plus 56K Security modems have recommended retail prices of R2 699 and R3 449 respectively.
