Micromuse extends discovery, visualisation of IT infrastructure for real-time assurance of service and business operations

Micromuse, a provider of ultra-scalable, real-time business and service assurance software, has announced the availability of version 3.5 (V3.5) of its Netcool/Precision for IP Networks for auto-discovery, network topology and root-cause analysis. The new features delivered in V3.5, which draw upon feedback from the Netcool/Precision product`s rapidly growing customer base, enhance customers` overall experience in terms of user efficiency, real-time intelligence across the infrastructure, reduced cost of administration and quicker return on investment.

The latest release of Netcool/Precision includes enhanced visibility into the service infrastructure through the addition of several key discovery capabilities including extended collection of server-based asset information, support for more network protocols, and greater flexibility in the configuration of discovery speed and detail. Netcool/Precision for IP Networks v3.5 includes a number of key new features including:

* Web-based "Network Views" GUI allows users to automatically partition the discovered topology into a set of sub-views according to users specific requirements.

* Advanced default configuration system reduces the time it takes for installation, configuration and administration tasks for new users and those looking for less customisation capabilities.

* Web-based Network Discovery Configuration and Administration GUI and wizards enable authorised users to customise discovery speed and depth to accommodate the scope of the network, the desired level of detail and any other administrator defined factors.

Access to Micromuse system agent details, including what specific processes are running on the box, enabling robust asset reporting from network to servers using Micromuse asset reporting. Support for additional discovery protocols, including secure socket shell. Significant enhancements to root cause correlation providing greater granularity and accuracy of root cause.
