Micromuse, a provider of ultra-scalable, real-time business and service assurance software, has announced enhancements to its Netcool/Dashboards product family with the release of Netcool/Realtime Active Dashboards version 2.0 (Netcool/RAD).
The Netcool/Dashboards family provides executive management, IT operations and lines of business with real-time intelligence and end-to-end visibility into the health of business and IT services, processes and key performance indicators.
The Netcool/Realtime Active Dashboards version 2.0 application allows business executives to transform data into valuable business intelligence by visualising service-affecting issues in real-time. Using the enhanced Netcool/RAD views, executives are able to quickly process information as it affects mainlines of business and drive action toward resolution.
Says Eric Jorgensen, continent director - Africa for Micromuse: "The release of Netcool/RAD enables organisations to provide `corner office` views for executives, allowing them to see the status of their business applications, services, customers and lines of business in a single place and in real-time. The views also provide performance indicators such as new customers, pending orders, business process status, and open help-desk and call centre tickets, all in a single management interface. The ability to visualise business services and make business-critical decisions in real-time is a fundamental necessity that drives more targeted action by the operation centre staff, decreased amount of time that a service or application stays down, quicker return to profit, and greater customer satisfaction."
The Netcool/Dashboards family provides an exclusive set of business benefits associated with managing today`s IT and operations support systems (OSS) infrastructures. Specific enhancements delivered through the release of Netcool/RAD version 2.0 include a sophisticated user interface with enhanced modelling capabilities. This enables greater flexibility and granularity in propagating service, application or process status.
The advanced service level agreement (SLA) tracking module allows users to calculate the amount of downtime and associate this data with `revenue lost` penalties in real-time.
Custom canvases and drag-and-drop capabilities allows users to design queries for external data sources including Oracle, Sybase, MySQL, MSSQL, and Postgres, to drive enhanced visualisation of virtually any critical business data that may be helpful in real-time decision-making.
Map-like views present logical and geographical relationships between the infrastructure and service-based root cause indicators allow users to immediately determine the infrastructure components causing a business service outage. These indicators show the infrastructure components that, if restored immediately, will put an end to the outage, and restore the service to its operational state.
Jorgensen concludes: "Netcool`s/Realtime Active Dashboards meet the demands of competitive business environments where service levels and uptime are two critical factors within organisations. Adding the ability to monitor performance, business executives now have the tools to keep their finger on the pulse of their business."
