Microsoft focuses on EIM

Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 is generating considerable visibility as a strong performer in enterprise content management (ECM), says ECM Connection.

Tisson Mathew, CTO of Aivea, says Microsoft is focusing on enterprise information management (EIM), which is a superset of ECM. EIM encompasses enterprise application sources such as ERP and CRM as well as enterprise content, including files, Web pages and forms.

Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 includes check-in and check-out, versioning, metadata and role-based granular access controls.

IBM boosts software

IBM`s new classification module is used to automatically categorise large volumes of enterprise information, according to CNN Money.

With its service-oriented architecture-based capabilities, the IBM classification module provides a connection to the IBM FileNet P8 content management platform, to tackle the categorisation of vast amounts of unstructured content in the enterprise.

It automates the process of determining whether content is important, and how it should be handled. It can also automatically classify vast amounts of previously unmanaged content or reclassify content already under management.

eZ upgrades solution

Upgrades to the eZ Publish enterprise content management solution from eZ Systems include PHP 5 compatibility, improved clustering performance, multilingual URL support, and enhanced ISBN and multi-option types, says Editor and Publisher.

The latest version, ez Publish 4.0, also features eZ Flow, a new content management extension developed for news and media companies.

The extension supports revenue-generation programmes such as ad servers, pay-per-view content, paid content placement and subscription management. It includes interactive features designed to engage users, such as surveys, ratings, reviews and blogs.
