Microsoft introduces Personal Productivity Challenge

Global, online assessment to help information workers in more than 25 countries measure and improve personal productivity
Johannesburg, 23 Sep 2004

Microsoft Corp today introduced the Microsoft Office Personal Productivity Challenge (PPC), a global, online assessment. The productivity assessment is being offered to support the addition of fresh content and downloadable trials on Microsoft`s Office Online, www.microsoft.com/office, which includes the latest information on the 2003 editions of Microsoft Office, Microsoft Office OneNote 2003, Windows Mobile-based devices and Windows SharePoint Services.

The PPC, which can be completed in just five to seven minutes by going to www.microsoftofficeppc.com, will help SA`s information workers measure their productivity based on their answers to behavioural questions on topics including time management, collaboration and use of technology tools such as e-mail. Participants` productivity scores will serve as an indicator of how well they manage their time and how specific work techniques and technologies can help improve their productivity.

"Today`s work environment is defined by information and how well one can manage that information. As the volume and complexity increases, sometimes a person`s productivity can decrease," said Heather Third, business group manager: Desktop for Microsoft South Africa.

"The PPC is a valuable resource to help information workers in SA determine just how productive they really are. The resulting tips and tricks provide people with the information they need to manage their time effectively. By combining these recommendations with the tools in the 2003 editions of Microsoft Office, people can increase their productivity even more."

The PPC will be available in more than 25 countries.
