Microsoft LAR hosts software asset management event

Johannesburg, 15 Jun 2007

PC-WARE, one of the few Microsoft EMEA LARs in South Africa, organises an international, hosted software asset management (SAM) event in Midrand on 11 and 12 July 2007 for all its stakeholders. The event will cover all aspects of software asset management.

Maurice Staal, Managing Director of PC-WARE in South Africa, explains: "The demand for assisting our customers to manage their software assets has grown substantially. Therefore, we decided to invite our SAM specialists from Europe, and together with our local specialists, we will host this seminar, covering all aspects of software asset management".

During the two-day event, PC-WARE will present how to manage the software assets in an IT environment.

International guest speakers for this event will be Leo Meijer, EMEA SAM Business Unit Manager from the Netherlands, and Ruben van der Stockt, SAM Technical Specialist and Trainer for the Benelux. The event is scheduled for Wednesday 11 and Thursday 12 July in Midrand.

Staal adds: "PC-WARE South Africa provides various tools to enable customers to manage their software licensing. Just recently, PC-WARE acquired Gold partner status for Altiris in South Africa. We also supply Microsoft SMS and our own in-house developed PC-WARE SAM tool. During the event, we will also launch our new SAM licensing portfolio for service providers."

All the tools PC-WARE provides to its customers are supported by technical support and skills back-up and training. According to Staal: "Technology is an enabler. Software asset management requires a phased approach in order for customers to get the most value out of the implementations of the processes and the technology. That is what this seminar is all about."

PC-WARE will answer questions around ROI on software, penalties of non-compliance (and associated negative publicity), legal proceedings, avoiding unnecessary work, how to keep control and to develop an IT plan, how should companies create and maintain a clear structure with the many different software products, vendors, licences and agreements, etc. iSolve Business Solutions, one of PC-WARE's strategic business partners, has endorsed this event by sponsoring three prizes in the form of training courses for attendees.
