Microsoft local Web casts get the thumbs up

Johannesburg, 23 Apr 2004

After a successful pilot Web cast in January, Microsoft South Africa will offer bi-monthly locally hosted Web casts to its partners and customers. These Web casts are geared to provide an ancillary vehicle for baseline technical training as well as an opportunity for interactive knowledge sharing.

"In an effort to help our partners and customers gain additional skills with regards to security processes, the Web casts provide prescriptive guidance and security best practice, " says Colin Erasmus, information security manager at Microsoft South Africa." Over 150 people logged-on for our pilot Web cast and an additional 100 people viewed the session afterwards."

Dubbed the "TechNet Web cast", the next in the series will tackle patch management at Level 300 - focusing on the inter-relatedness of technology, people and processes to be effective.

The 45 minute session will be streamed on the 28th April 2004 at 14h00 at URL: www.microsoft.com/southafrica/security and will discuss the patch management lifecycle, process and strategy within the organisation. Presented by Colin Erasmus, information security manager at Microsoft Africa the Web cast will also demonstrate how tools such as Microsoft Baseline Security Analyzer and Software Update Services can be used to quickly and effectively respond to Microsoft`s published security bulletins and establish patch compliance across your infrastructure.

The Web cast will use multiple bit-rate streaming in an effort to reach as many company and IT professionals as possible.
