Microsoft makes use of Visio acquisition

After acquiring Visio in September, Microsoft has brought its first MS-branded iteration of Visio - Visio 2000 - to market. Like previous versions, the product will be used for diagramming business and technical problems and solutions.

Visio 2000 will be offered in a variety of flavours, each targeted at a specific consumer. The Standard edition will deliver diagramming to business professionals, Technical is aimed at engineers, Professional caters for IT professionals, and the Enterprise Edition will target the needs of IT specialists and developers.

Previous versions of Visio were noted for their integration with Visual Basic for Applications. The latest version supports VBA 6.0, as well as ActiveX, C and C++. Support for Vector Mark-up Language (VML) will allow Visio users to export their drawings to the , enabling users to pan, zoom and dynamically navigate through multiple drawing pages within the Web browser.

Visio slots in with Word and Excel for content creation, while FrontPage and PowerPoint will deliver the content to audiences. The Visio 2000 Standard full pack at R1 799, while the Professional full pack will sell for R2 975.
