Microsoft partners with industry to provide insight to financial services

Johannesburg, 07 Oct 2005

Microsoft South Africa, together with key partners specialising in financial services, will host a morning session aimed at educating participants on the role that technology plays, not only in delivering services to customers and business, but also in terms of compliance.

The half-day workshop will take place on Wednesday, 12 October at Microsoft South Africa`s offices in Bryanston.

Customers already deploying a range of technologies will be among the guest speakers at the event and include Carolynn Chalmers, CIO of Thebe Investment, who will provide a customer view on compliance, and Brett Thornton-Dibb, head of equities financial control at Deutsche Securities, who will provide insight into its FlowCentric implementation in the organisation.

Microsoft partners will be represented by, among others: Paul Wootten, director at Sandbox, who will talk about contract management; David Prosser, channels manager at Citrix Systems Southern Africa, who will discuss the use of access infrastructure to build an adaptive service-oriented architecture; and Pieter van Schalkwyk, managing director of FlowCentric Solutions, who will provide a view on embedding financial controls in the operational process in an organisation.

"We are excited by the depth of involvement, from both customers and partners at this event," says Derek Kudsee, Microsoft Business Solutions group manager at Microsoft South Africa.

And look forward to showcasing the solutions that our partners are delivering to businesses around the country - particularly in the financial services industry."
