Microsoft signs deal with LG

The world's largest software company and the world's fourth-largest handset maker have signed a deal for strategic collaboration in research and development, marketing, applications and services in converged mobile devices, says Telecom TV.

Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer said aggressive growth through investment was the answer for companies struggling during the economic downturn.

The chief executive met with Nam Yong, head of LG Electronics, and signed a memorandum of understanding, where LG will start using Windows Mobile for more of its handsets.

Solarflare showcases converged tech

Solarflare Communications, a provider in standards-compliant 10 Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) silicon, will demonstrate its next-generation 10GBase-T technology at WinHEC, in Los Angeles, states Market Watch.

This is the first public 10GbE virtualisation demo operating with a Windows 7 virtual machine running on Hyper-V technology.

The technology shows line-rate 10Gbps server and consumes only 10 watts of power; the SFN411T is the industry's lowest power and greenest 10GbE server adapter.

Motorola unveils assistant

Motorola's Enterprise division has released the 3G WAN enterprise digital assistant in India, with the aim of helping organisations increase worker productivity, reports Telecom Tiger.

According to Motorola, the device improves efficiency, reduces operational costs and errors, and enhances customer service by delivering simultaneous voice, , GPS navigation, and camera-based document capture.

“Integrated technology leverages the powers of convergence to enable enterprise customers to gain a competitive edge,” says Soumitra Sana, country president of Motorola India.
