Navision has announced that Microsoft is in the process of acquiring the company for an approximate $1.3 billion (about R13 billion). As a result of the acquisition, Navision`s employees will join ranks with the Microsoft Business Solutions division, creating a global business-applications team of more than 3 600 members worldwide.
The acquisition reflects both companies` vision to deliver to small and mid-market organisations high-value business solutions that will enable them to thrive in an increasingly interconnected economy.
According to Navision South Africa managing director Keith Mullan, Microsoft`s offer to acquire Navision was based on a shared vision and will benefit all stakeholders. "I`m very pleased with Microsoft`s offer. By joining forces, both companies enhance their ability to develop and deliver high-value business solutions, that will enable organisations to integrate more effectively with their customers, partners, employees and suppliers.
"Even though Navision is a strong and sustainable business with a clear and focused strategy, we firmly believe that this opportunity will increase our potential in the marketplace," he adds.
"For our customers, resellers and partners, it means added value to their investments in Navision solutions. Integrated in a strong Microsoft entity, focusing on the needs of mid-market businesses, we can offer new technology and enhanced functionality even faster than before. Being part of Microsoft`s powerful and global business, our highly skilled employees will find new career paths and growth opportunities," says Mullan.
Once the deal is completed, Navision will become part of Microsoft Business Solutions. Navision`s headquarters in Vedbaek, Denmark, will be the major centre of operations for Microsoft Business Solutions in EMEA, and also Microsoft`s largest product development centre outside the US.
