Middle East prioritises disaster recovery

Companies in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have made disaster recovery spending and things such as Web site monitoring services a priority, reports Periscope IT.

Some companies are matching or exceeding implementations carried out in western nations, it has been claimed.

According to a recent survey by anti-virus software firm Symantec, 76% of respondents from the UAE, and 61% who were based in Saudi Arabia, test their disaster recovery systems at least once every six months - compared with 63% in the US.

OGC pushes business continuity

The US Office of Government Commerce (OGC) has published a model contract for public sector ICT to cover carbon reduction, mitigation plans, open source and business continuity, according to ComputerWeekly.

The document is part of a series of OGC measures to support the public sector in its ICT buying decisions.

The free-to-use solution includes significant updates in the key areas of financial distress and management.

New solution focuses on SMEs

Touch Solutions has unveiled new Acronis Backup and Recovery 10 software, based on open source technology systems for small and medium enterprises (SMEs), states Business Mirror.

The Acronis Backup and Recovery 10 is an upgrade of the Acronis True Image software and based on Acronis's patented disk imaging and bare metal restore technologies.

The software is “designed to provide centralised management of all backup and recovery activities to help organisations meet challenging recovery time objective,” Acronis business development manager for Asia South, Tam Chek San, says.
