Mimecast, a leading supplier of cloud-based e-mail security, continuity, policy control and archiving, has been ranked in The Guardian's Tech Media Invest 100, a ranking of Britain's top one hundred most innovative companies - for the second year in a row.
Improving upon last year's result, Mimecast is now placed seventh alongside businesses such as Spotify, Shazam and Huddle.
The Guardian's Tech Media Invest (TMI) 100 listing is held in partnership with Price Waterhouse Coopers, and assesses a selection of privately owned revenue-earning companies for their innovation and creativity over the past 12 months. The TMI aims to showcase high-growth companies that are developing innovative ways to serve business and consumers, and have the potential to radically change the shape of the technology and media industry.
The TMI Advisory Board deployed a detailed process to whittle down a pool of eligible, promising companies to get to the top 100 winners. Evaluations were made on both quantitative and qualitative criteria, such as financial performance, innovation, management, global strategy, and ecosystem integration. Additional criteria include business potential, team experience, product or technology merit, competitive position, investment or partnering interest as well as the quality of the written profile.
Peter Bauer, CEO and co-founder of Mimecast, says: "It's been another phenomenal year of growth for us at Mimecast, especially considering the economic conditions of the last 12 months, with IT budgets having been slashed and businesses having to justify every last penny. Part of the reason for our success is that we have a really compelling proposition; but most of all, we're fortunate to have a group of incredibly hard working people that continue to take the business to the next level. It's exciting to have our efforts recognised by the Tech Media Invest."
