Mimecast to offer $30m in free Migration Services for companies migrating to Exchange 2010, Office 365

Mimecast to offer free six-month service to mitigate the risk of e-mail downtime and data loss and provide users with a seamless transition during their migration.

Los Angeles, 13 Jul 2011

Mimecast, the leading supplier of cloud-based email archiving, continuity and security for Microsoft Exchange and Office 365, has announced it will be offering a six-month package of Migration Services to organisations upgrading to Microsoft Exchange 2010 or Office 365, helping to prevent e-mail downtime and data loss during the migration process.

These services will be available free of charge to any organisation migrating to Microsoft Exchange 2010 or Office 365 within six months of taking up the offer. Mimecast is also targeting channel partners looking to accelerate the provision of migration services to their customers.

As well as users having continued access to their e-mail throughout any planned or unplanned server downtime, Mimecast's Migration Services help avoid data loss thanks to a rolling 58-day e-mail archive of all inbound, outbound and internal e-mail.

Users can access both live and stored e-mail anytime, anywhere, via their Mimecast webmail mailbox. Also, Mimecast's advanced Mail Transfer Agent (MTA) empowers the IT team by intelligently routing e-mail based on server or user mailbox location to ensure a seamless and pain-free experience for users during the migration.

For companies considering migration to Exchange 2010 specifically, Mimecast is making available an Exchange 2010 Readiness Kit, including Solution Briefs, 'How-To' Guides, Datasheets, and a Webinar series on preparing for and troubleshooting migrations, hosted by Exchange MVPs and other leading subject experts. The company's 'Challenging Complexity' blog will also be focused on migration-related issues, and will include contributions from guest bloggers from within the global Exchange community.

Peter Bauer, co-founder and CEO of Mimecast, said: “We're about to witness a surge in e-mail migration as companies look to take advantage of the power and flexibility of Exchange 2010 on premise, or move to Microsoft's fully hosted e-mail solution, Office 365. However, any migration process has inherent risks, which if not dealt with correctly, can result in e-mail downtime, data loss and security lapses. We are offering organisations the chance to put in place safeguards before they migrate, essentially de-risking the entire process. Our hope is that our offer will accelerate uptake of Microsoft's new platforms, at the same time exposing businesses to the benefits of a combined Mimecast/Microsoft e-mail environment.”
