Minolta concludes document delivery deals worth R15m

Johannesburg, 05 Aug 2002

Minolta South Africa has clinched four document delivery solution deals collectively worth more than R15 million with Alexander Forbes, Cell C, Hollard Insurance and De Beers Technical Division (DebTech).

An outsourcing deal has been finalised with Hollard Insurance for the installation of 19 Oc'e 3145 digital network copiers at three separate premises.

Minolta sales manager, Alan Sims, says the outsourcing deal means that Minolta South Africa will be responsible for the entire document delivery solution at Hollard Insurance. "With an outsourcing deal, we ensure that the equipment is integrated with existing systems at the client. Instead of paying for the hardware, the client pays for the print output at a fixed cost," he says.

A further outsourcing deal was concluded with Alexander Forbes for the implementation of 80 Minolta digital copiers, four colour copiers and 10 laser fax machines at its head office in Sandton.

According to Sims, each outsourcing deal is tailor-made to suit the specific client. "In Alexander Forbes` case we implemented a software solution which allows employees to use their access cards to make copies and prints. The software also allows Alexander Forbes to access detailed account information and manage printing and copying internally," says Sims.

A rental and maintenance contract was concluded with Cell C for the supply and support of more than 30 digital copier/printers, namely Minolta Dialta Di351 and Dialta Di450.

Sims says Minolta was awarded the deal on tender, after a thorough process of elimination. "Minolta won the tender because we offered the most competitive integrated document delivery solution," he says.

In addition, Minolta has implemented a digital document delivery solution at DebTech comprising 11 Oc'e 3145 digital network copiers, a solution that Sims says has completely changed the way DebTech conducts its printing, copying and faxing.

Sims believes that customers are not only choosing Minolta solutions for the cutting-edge technology on offer, but because Minolta takes special cognisance of what its customers` needs are. "We do not simply place machines on specification. We conduct in-depth analyses to establish the productivity of each machine and then we offer document delivery solutions based on the results of our analyses," he says.
