Minolta introduces entry-level colour digital copier/scanner connected to printer

Johannesburg, 01 Feb 2001

Minolta has introduced the entry-level SC-200 scanner/copier which, when connected to a Minolta colour laser printer, transforms them into convenient document centres offering digital colour copying, printing, and scanning.

The scanner/copier is connected to the laser printer with a parallel cable, enabling the user to reproduce hard copy documents such as photos and magazine clippings, using the laser printer as the output device.

Minolta colour product manager Marianna Gdanis says the SC-200 makes digital copying accessible to the entry-level market. "The modular system means companies can upgrade certain Minolta colour laser printers to operate as a digital colour copier, giving the user multiple functionality at an affordable price," she says.

The SC-200 operates as a full-featured desktop scanner, with resolutions of up to 600dpi x 600dpi. With the standard image editing and text conversion , the scanned images can either be printed directly, or saved to the host computer for editing or later use.

As a copier, the product offers quality resolutions of up to 600dpi x 600dpi, at the speed of the laser printer it is connected to. Using the laser printer as the copier`s output device means the images can be reproduced onto any printer-supported page size and material.

"The introduction of the SC-200 enhances the productivity of the Magicolor laser printer range, and provides a good return on a small investment," says Gdanis.
