Minolta-QMS has introduced its new high performance controller technology, Crown III - an advanced printer operating system that increases the efficiency and productivity of its laser printers by up to 35%.
According to Minolta-QMS laser printer product manager, Marc Pillay, Crown III reduces print transmission time, receives data from multiple sources simultaneously, prints multiple document sets quickly, allows the ability to manage remote printers from the desktop, improves network performance, and eliminates the need for print servers.
Crown III offers compatibility with commercial software and computer systems, and its software-loadable system allows the printer to be upgraded via software.
"Its many features are designed to help users produce more documents per day, faster, and with less impact on the company`s network than ever before. Crown III provides easy printing for network users, flexible management for network administrators, and improved productivity for businesses," he says.
Crown III`s multitasking architecture maximises the printer`s throughput, through features such as `simultaneous input operation`, which allows several users to print to the printer at the same time. Crown III provides emulations such as Postscript levels 2 & 3, PCL 5e & 6, CCITT 3 & 4, CALS, HPGL, PDF v1.2 and Line Printer, and its `emulation sensing processing` feature makes swapping between emulations 100% transparent. In addition, `electronic collation` reduces network traffic and eliminates manual rearrangement.
`On printer spooling` reduces the print load from servers and networks, and its `virtual memory support` means the printer can handle any size print job. The technology will also lead to a reduction in running costs, with a `printer accounting` feature that monitors printer usage and cost tracking. In addition, the `proof then print` feature allows you to proof the first copy of the print run before running off successive copies.
The Crown technology also offers features normally associated with higher-volume printers such as `security printing`, which secures sensitive documents from unwanted views.
"Minolta-QMS is recognised around the world for producing innovative, high-performance print systems and solutions-orientated technologies that have transformed the business of document printing. Its latest innovation, Crown III, has taken printing to a new level of efficiency and productivity," says Pillay.
