Minolta-QMS introduces the new PagePro 9100N

Johannesburg, 10 Apr 2002

MINOLTA-QMS has launched the new PagePro 9100N, a 35 page-per-minute large format network laser printer that delivers fast, high-resolution printing and boasts Minolta`s Crown III Controller Technology and PageScope Management software.

According to MINOLTA-QMS printer product manager, Zarius Jordan, Crown III technology controller powers the high performance document production that results from the simultaneous multiprotocol connectivity and multitasking ability built into the PagePro 9100N.

"The CrownNet for Ethernet interface, a standard feature of the PagePro 9100N, accepts multiple complete jobs simultaneously from users across the network and the standard IEEE 1284 parallel and USB interfaces remain active, even when the network interface is receiving documents," says Jordan.

The PagePro 9100N`s printer-based, full-document spooling helps reduce network traffic congestion and ensures all jobs from all interfaces print in their proper order, while compile-ahead processing enables it to continue accepting and preparing documents for printing even while printing pages of a different document. Electronic collation, another standard feature of the PagePro 9100N, allows anyone to easily produce multiple sets of multipage documents directly from the application without adding to network traffic.

PageScope Management software, included with the PagePro 9100N, provides the network manager with a convenient, Web-based application for managing the printer - as well as other printers and copiers - from their desktop. PageScope Management is a client-server application that searches for all TCP/IP printing devices on the network. With its easy-to-use graphical interface, the network administrator may select and change default settings on the printer, configure IP addresses of new network printers with a single click, monitor usage patterns for different printers, and much more. For the network user, the PagePro 9100N offers its built-in CrownView Web page. Anyone connected to the same network as the PagePro 9100N can use his or her Web browser to view the current status of the printer, including recent printed jobs and levels of consumables. Page Scope Management and CrownView save time and increase productivity for all users.

Configurable to meet demanding print requirements, the PagePro 9100N has a maximum monthly duty cycle of 150 000 prints, paper input capacity of 2 200 sheets and a 250MHz RISC-based processor.

The PagePro9100N can operate in almost any network environment, evidenced in its ability to support Windows, MacOS, Novell, NetWare, IPX/SPX, TCP/IP, EtherTalk, NetBIOS/NetBEUI, Unix, Linux and even MS-DOS applications. PostScript 3, PCL 6, HP-GL, PDF and line printer emulations, all included with the printer, enable support for a wide range of business applications.

Jordan adds that Ethernet interface and support for pages up to A3 size means that the PagePro 9100N delivers true workgroup network printing to businesses of all sizes. "We strive to offer the best price/performance levels in the industry and the PagePro 9100N is the latest example in a compelling line of products," he says.
