Bidvest Group company, Minolta South Africa, has introduced two new fax machines, the 16 pages-per-minute (ppm) Konica Minolta Fax (KMF) 2900, incorporating copier, printer and scanning capabilities, and the 10ppm MinFax 3245, its first entry-level laser fax machine aimed at the small office and home office (SOHO) market.
Minolta SA divisional manager, Paul Symonds, says the KMF 2900 is a Super G3 fax, which uses a 33.6 high-speed modem to transmit at speeds of four seconds per page. "This high-speed transmission facilitates the work process, making it faster and more efficient," he says.
A high volume paper capacity allows for a standard cassette of 250 sheets, a Priority Bypass with 10 sheets and an optional second cassette of 500 sheets.
The copier functionality allows the KMF 2900 to reproduce pages at 16ppm and create images at 600dpi with 256 gradations. The high speed printing function is capable of producing high quality images of 600dpi x 600dpi with 256 gradations, also at 16ppm.
A colour scanner allows users to unify analogue and digital business. Documents can be scanned via the TWAIN driver. An automatic document feeder (ADF) holds up to 50 sheets and can convert a large number of documents to digital data with ease. Symonds says this analogue-digital integration is highly cost-effective in today`s fast-moving information sharing, office environment.
The front-loading toner and drum cartridges are easy to handle and can be replaced separately to save on cost. Additional features include one-touch dialling, group dial and simultaneous broadcast transmission. A large memory capacity allows users to hold 350 pages of incoming faxes.
Directed at the SOHO market, the MinFax 3245 laser fax machine has a 33.600bps modem speed with 120-page memory and 250-page paper tray. It can group-dial up to 198 records, broadcast up to 10 entries and has a 200dpi scanning resolution and 600dpi printing resolution.
In addition to its copier, scanner and telephone functionality, the MinFax 3245 can also send, receive and print SMS messages. It has a 30 SMS memory and an SMS size of 640 characters.
