Bidvest Group Company, Minolta South Africa, has boosted its colour range by introducing three high-performance colour laser printers, the Konica Minolta magicolor 2450, magicolor 5440 desk laser (DL) and magicolor 5450.

Minolta SA colour division manager, Marianna Gdanis, says all three printers boast speed, quality, ease of use and a comprehensive set of standard features.

"The magicolor 2450 received a MacUser award touting it as a machine that offers a Postscript Level 3 RIP and delivers excellent colour proofs.

"In addition, the magicolor 5440DL garnered a PC Plus `Performance Award` for its raw speed, accurate printing, efficient driver, fantastic colour reproduction and its delivery on the promise of its specifications," says Gdanis.

The magicolor 5450 is a 25-page per minute (ppm) high-end colour and monochrome laser printer capable of printing from virtually any application and operating system. It is targeted at large and varied workgroups and graphics professionals.

Due to its next-generation Emperon controller, PostScript 3 emulation and a G4 667MHz processor, it is able to handle heavy-duty print runs with ease. It has a standard 600-sheet capacity, which can be increased to 1 600 by adding up to two 500-sheet feeders. A duplex unit can be added for two-sided and booklet printing.

The magicolor 5450 uses Photo ART technology to deliver high-quality prints. Printing at 600 x 600 x 4dpi, Photo ART contone varies the colours of individual pixels to a much greater degree than usual, providing outstanding printing precision, enhance picture detail and smooth colour graduations.

Minolta South Africa`s second offering, magicolor 5440DL, is a 25ppm colour and monochrome laser printer suited to medium-sized workgroups. This device combines the high-print speed and low cost per-page benefits of a monochrome machine with the advantages of high-quality colour printing.

Vivid images are the result of 2 400dpi high-resolution that gives smoothly graduated prints and delivers great colour consistency. PRISMLASER Technology ensures excellent print quality. With the ability to handle stock up to 210g/m2, business cards, brochures and similar materials can all be produced in-house.

The third machine, the magicolor 2450, is a 5ppm in colour and 20ppm in monochrome laser printer, ideally suited to small to medium graphics intense workgroups. It has 128MB RAM and an Emperon controller, which allows printing from any major application and environment.

All three machines present the option of printing photos direct from any PictBridge-compliant digital camera. The magicolor 2450 also allows users to print a contact sheet first and has the facility to scale and rotate images.
