Bidvest Group company, Minolta South Africa, has launched the 60-page-per-minute Konica Minolta bizhub 600 multifunctional printer, which brings together high-speed printing, scanning, copying and finishing functions with versatile and secure document storage and distribution capabilities.
Minolta SA copier division product manager, Paul Symonds, says the Konica Minolta bizhub 600 is one of the first in the bizhub range to use the newly developed bizhub Open Platform, a fully integrated print system with an open protocol that allows flexible customisation with third-party software. "The cross-functional design of bizhub OP streamlines document production and communication," he says.
The Konica Minolta bizhub 600 features a wide range of print and copy functions. The optional IC-202 Image Controller comes equipped with PCL6 and PostScript3 page description languages. Konica Minolta`s Simitri polymerized toner provides sharp detailed output. The machine is capable of 1 200 x 600dpi copy resolution with smoothing and 2 400 x 600dpi print resolution with smoothing.
Symonds says this model is designed for long, reliable performance and provides consistently high quality imagining during continuous printing. "In addition to its high output speed, the Konica Minolta bizhub 600 features a warm-up time of less than five minutes and first-copy output time of just 3.3 seconds," he says.
The bizhub 600 provides an advanced level of document handling and distribution, with Box function to allow users to save data to the optional hard drive, where it can be distribute to other users via FTP, SMB or e-mail. They can also use incorporated software such as PageScope Box Operator to preview files directly from Box, change file names and delete files, or PageScope WorkWare to merge and output files created with separate applications. The scan and send function enables to share or send documents directly from scanning.
Security features include user and group authentication, individualised access privileges and usage limits, HDD password lock and SSL encryption to protect date from being transferred over user networks, including LDAP information.
Users can choose from a range of finishing capabilities including optional units for post insertion, multiple stapling positions, booklet production, 2-folding, Z-folding and hold punching. Large capacity units are available, increasing capacity to 7 600 sheets of A4 paper.
Environmental considerations mean the Konica Minolta bizhub 600 minimises emissions and waste throughout its lifecycle and reduces energy consumption by using a low-temperature-fixing toner.
