Bidvest Group Company, Minolta South Africa, has introduced the new Konica Minolta bizhub 210/162 with copying speeds of 21 and 16 pages per minute respectively.
These compact new models incorporate digital copier, printer, scanner and fax (optional) functions into a machine that is perfect for SOHO, mid-size offices or any environment that has space constraints.
Minolta SA copier division product manager Paul Symonds says the company is leading the medium to high-end print volume digital copier market in segment two (20 - 39 copies per minute (cpm)), segment three (40 - 59cpm) and segment four (60 - 89cpm), but is placed third in segment one (under 20cpm).
"With the introduction of the bizhub 210/162, we believe we will grow this segment considerably and give our competitors a run for their money. Clients will benefit not only from our excellent product, but also from the service and backup that we offer them," says Symonds.
The new bizhub models are small in size but large in productivity. "In recent years, the need for space-saving digital office machines with multi-functionality has grown. The bizhub 210/162 costs about the same as a single-function copier, but includes local printer and local scanner functions for higher cost performance," says Symonds.
A number of optional add-ons lends increased communication functionality to the bizhub 210/162, such as network print output, Super G3 faxing, Internet faxing and scan to e-mail.
By mounting the optional network interface card NC-502, both machines can be used as network printers. An image controller IC-205 enables PCL6 printer functions to further boost productivity. The high-speed RIP once printing function lets users print out large volume documents quickly while making multiple sets of printouts.
The fax function uses the Super G3 international standard and the JBIG standard high-efficiency data compression scheme. Faxes can be sent over ordinary telephone lines at high speed, keeping communication costs down. In addition, high quality image faxes can be sent and received over the Internet at high speeds.
A multi-purpose cassette accommodates paper from A3 to A5 in size, as well as postcards, transparencies, envelopes and other special media. The 100-sheet multi bypass tray also accepts a variety of media including thick paper, transparencies, labels and envelopes. An optional five-stage cassette capability enables continuous feeding for large volume jobs.
