Mint appoints Hodgkinson as MD to drive growth

Johannesburg, 30 Nov 2006

Mint, a local Microsoft Gold certified partner, has appointed Grant Hodgkinson to the position of MD in a move to leverage his technical and business development skills to improve customer service and expand the business offerings.

Hodgkinson replaces Terence McPhail, who successfully managed the business from its inception in 2000. McPhail has retired.

The company has also doubled its office space, moving away from Microsoft Corporate Hill to Epsom Downs Office Park, Bryanston.

"Moving from business development director to managing director at Mint allows me the opportunity to bring all my skills to the fore to keep the business moving in the right direction," Hodgkinson says.

"In my new position, I plan to leverage our skills, infrastructure and partnerships to provide greater benefit for existing customers and significantly expand the customer base through the acquisition of new business. We will improve our services and expand our product lines. We will focus more intently on partnering with our customers to help them work smarter."

Hodgkinson plans to reassess and reaffirm the business processes and implement new sales initiatives by the middle of 2007.

In the longer term, he plans to position the company as partner of choice for organisations confronting the virtual explosion of information and increased need for skills transfer and productivity improvements. Mint will also maintain its position as an industry specialist in the field of enterprise search.

"In the IT world, executive involvement in business development is vital," Hodgkinson says. "As MD I will retain a strong view of this area in Mint. However, my role now includes increasing sales capacity and improving operational capacity. Business goals and objectives set forth by shareholders will be more strategically addressed and Mint will be entrenched in the minds of customers as the business partner to have for 2007."

In 2006 Mint won two Microsoft partner awards for its work in enterprise search at Sappi. The first was the Regional Winning Customer Award in Enterprise Search for the EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) region; and then more recently it was awarded the Winning Customer Award for Enterprise Search at the Microsoft Partner Summit held in August.
