Mint Management Technologies' successful Graduate Internship Programme - home-grown talent shines

Johannesburg, 07 Feb 2012

Mint Management Technologies, “Mint”, announced this week that as a result of its highly successful Graduate Internship Programme in 2011, five new graduates from the ICT sector have accepted the challenge of participating in the second 12-month programme, which kicked off on Monday 23 January 2012.

Why choose between education and experience if you can have both! Mint offers a paid internship to help graduates to secure the much needed experience they require to launch their careers in the workplace.

“Mint's success in grooming six top-notch eager young IT specialists during the course of 2011 resulted in all six interns being offered, and accepting permanent positions within Mint's ranks. All of these original interns continue to shine and add significant value to our business!” says Mint's Managing Director, David Woolnough.

The objective of the Graduate Internship Programme is threefold:

* To provide a framework by which students and graduates from diverse academic backgrounds can enhance their educational experience through practical work assignments.
* To expose them to the work of Mint and our main products so we can train the next generations of software professionals in South Africa.
* To provide Mint offices with the assistance of highly qualified students specialised in various professional fields.

The programme is full-time and interns are required to work a full five-day week. Interns are rotated across Mint's technical departments, carrying out their tasks under the supervision of a mentor, who provides the technical support interns need to achieve professional goals. “As an intern, you can expect support and encouragement at every level! Interns form an integral part of teams, get hands-on experience, and contribute to the success of critical assignments. And equally important, interns gain exposure to our corporate environment, products, and services through interaction with senior management and a formal orientation programme,” says Woolnough.

Core to Mint's business is its people first strategy. Mint believes that Employment Equity is an essential ingredient in facilitating the meaningful participation of other designated groups at all levels of the South African economy, in order to ensure sustainable economic stability, growth and development. Mint's intern programme is proof of this. Mint received more than 1 600 applications from keen graduates across southern Africa. Each application was reviewed, a short-listing process followed, and after a rigorous interview process, five successful candidates were selected.

“We are all thrilled to participate in Mint's internship programme”, said Yvonne Bale, the only female among the five new interns. “Mint is providing each of us with an equal opportunity to make our mark in the ever-evolving and fast-paced ICT sector, while mentoring us all the way - and paying us a salary.”

“Mint's unique value offering through our five key specialisations ensures that our interns gain invaluable experience across multiple solutions. Skills in these areas are often limited, so what better than to grow this talent from within,” says Woolnough.
