Mint was the only African partner at the recent Microsoft Portals Architect Boot Camp in Seattle. This was not an open event and only selected partners were specifically invited to attend. Not only did Mint receive an invitation, but Grant Hodgkinson, Sales and Marketing director of Mint, was asked to present to the delegates, based on Mint`s work with both SharePoint Portal Server (SPS) and Content Management Server (CMS). This is confirmation of the high regard that Microsoft has for Mint`s expertise in the portals technology competency.
Mint helps their customers become more productive and reduce costs in their businesses. Their solution focus is in the area of consulting and development for collaboration, content management, knowledge management, document management and workflow, delivered through portal technologies. Mint is a Johannesburg-based Microsoft Certified Partner and a member of Microsoft`s Seattle-based Partner Advisory Council for Collaboration and Portals.
Hodgkinson presented on Mint`s experience in integrating SPS and CMS. "We focus on the application of the technology to solve business issues, so we have to understand the full capability of the products. Our presentation highlighted a solution we implemented for a bank", said Hodgkinson.
The bank printed documents and couriered them to their branches, which was both costly and time consuming. By using SPS and CMS, Mint were able to provide electronic access to the documents from any branch.
Hodgkinson continued, "SharePoint provided us with a sound platform for the management of documents in a collaborative way. This, combined with Office 2003, assisted the customer to create documents which ultimately had to be distributed. It was in the distribution of the resultant documents that Content Management Server came into its own. We provided the capability for content authors to create a self-managed web site that pulled through documents from SharePoint in HTML form. In addition to this, traditional web content management was provided."
Hodgkinson concludes "Mint has a strong commitment to the Microsoft technology and we attend product updates to ensure that we are well informed on the latest technology. It is very rewarding to have our expertise publicly acknowledged in a forum like the international Boot Camp. It also confirms for our customers that we are delivering world class solutions."
