NeuraTech, leading developer of Knowledge Management support tools, has appointed Mintek`s Measurement and Control Division (MCD), as a Value Added Reseller (VAR) for its NeuralFramework and support tools in a ground breaking deal that will, for the first time, bring integrated management information to the process control and instrumentation sector of the minerals industry.
The move into this niche market expands NeuraTech`s reach into new spheres of information management across all commercial and industrial sectors through its growing VAR network, both within South Africa and internationally.
Mintek`s MCD develops and markets software application systems for process control environments, and plans to integrate NeuraTech`s NeuralFramework into some of its customised solutions.
Division manager Dave Hulbert says the working partnership with Neuratech will enable parastatal Mintek to steal the march on would-be competitors who are just breaking into the field of knowledge management software products.
"We became increasingly aware that our clients want more than a process control system. They want something that can provide management with information about that system, and in a way which is straightforward to use.
"The integrated product we are now able to provide will be a major benefit in providing engineering management information to middle management."
Hulbert says the decision to opt for the NeuralFramework was made after a thorough evaluation and trial run with the product to see whether it could be applicable to an engineering environment and could integrate seamlessly with Mintek`s software.
"We felt it was a promising way forward and, because our developers would not need to spend time developing our own management information system, we would have a significant lead in bringing knowledge management capabilities to the process control and instrumentation market."
Hulbert says work has already started on incorporating NeuraTech`s NeuralFramework into a pilot project for a major client.
NeuraTech`s managing director Ramon Dempers says he is excited about the way Mintek will use the NeuralFramework in communication with their systems to provide a world-class solution for their clients.
"They are extending the role the NeuralFramework can play as a serious platform for the development of information management systems."
NeuraTech, a subsidiary of Siltek Ltd, develops and publishes software for use by companies wanting to implement a Information Management strategy. The cornerstone of NeuraTech`s solution is the NeuralFramework.
