Mint's technology open day to broaden awareness around emerging technology trends

Johannesburg, 09 Nov 2011

Mint Management Technologies (Mint) has always been at the forefront of both cloud and mobile technology. A Microsoft Partner Network Partner with a number of Gold and Silver Competencies and Microsoft's Mobility Partner of the Year for 2010, Mint has also established an impressive reputation for assisting customers leverage the Microsoft stack to take advantage of new technology, while making the most of existing investments.

Mint's latest endeavour is the Mint Technology Open Day 2011, which will see the technology enabler team up with several key partners in an initiative geared to broaden awareness and educate South African business about the power of cloud and mobile computing.

“The ICT space had undergone some pretty significant changes globally,” explains Mint's Managing Director, David Woolnough. “So much so, that the ways in which businesses engage with their customers and with each other is evolving on a daily basis. Organisations are faced with new opportunities and functionality that didn't exist just a few short years ago. The motivation behind the Mint Open Day is to demystify the cloud and mobile space, as well as provide sound advice around how Microsoft as a platform is geared to support business' latest enablers.”

The Open Day has been specifically designed to cater for busy schedules. Mint and its partners have segmented the programme into three distinct offerings: Microsoft Platform Integration, Cloud and Mobility, making it easier for people to attend those sessions that interest them most.

In addition to the formal presentation line-up, an exhibition showcasing some of South Africa's own best solutions will be available, encouraging further interaction and knowledge sharing.

“A number of our key partners, including ComUnity, PWC Exordia, K2 and Mimecast, have all committed themselves as speakers and to host stands at the exhibition, making the Open Day an excellent opportunity for businesses who are both considering, or even already firmly committed to the adoption of cloud or mobile technology, to interact, engage and network,” says Woolnough.

“Because technology has become so much more consultative and service-driven, we have found that many prospects find it difficult to actually visualise the value to be gained. We (technology partners) are no longer dropping boxes that can be easily evaluated for return on investment, but rather suggesting a change of behaviour that is facilitated or enabled by technologies such as cloud or mobile. For this reason, we have expanded the programme to include valuable insight into how these technologies are truly revolutionising business through localised and relevant case studies and powerful customer evidence.”

The day culminates in several international speakers addressing delegates from their home countries via Lync Cast. This inclusion in the programme means that delegates get to access some great global resources, while at the same time illustrating the impressive functionality of “over the net” functionality as a business tool and communication medium.

The Mint Open Day 2011 will be hosted at the Microsoft Corporate Hill, in Bryanston, on Monday, 14 November. There is no cost for the event, pre-registration is ideal to gain entrance to both the presentations and the exhibition.
