Miraculum, Oracle to grow the supply chain

Johannesburg, 06 Nov 2003

Honing its skills and market specialisation in bringing mission-critical back-office systems to mid-tier markets, Oracle partner, Miraculum, will play a pivotal role in increasing the market penetration of the Oracle e-Business Suite, particularly in a sector where a lower total cost of ownership and speed of deployment are crucial.

The company will resell the e-Business Suite on an application service provision basis.

Miraculum, a local provider of outsourced IT services, recently announced a corporate restructuring and services realignment - empowering the company to extend its supply chain and procurement services to new growth markets. According to Miraculum, it is better positioned to deliver these value-added services because of the increased adoption by companies to outsource aspects of their supplier and back-office functions to specialised business partners.

The main technology upshot of Miraculum`s repositioning is its move from e-procurement to becoming a specialist supply chain services enabler for companies, hosting supply and procurement services on Oracle e-Business Suite.

"We believe that Miraculum has the infrastructure and in-house skills to offer customers a value-added, comprehensive IT outsourcing service in supply chain enablement - a business model that is built on Oracle technology and which results in a lower total cost of ownership to the customer," says Kelvin Reynolds, MD of Oracle South Africa.

According to Rodney de Koch, Miraculum`s newly appointed CEO, the company offers real cost benefits to the kinds of markets where back-office procurement and supply processes might have become needlessly complex and expensive - for example, in government and public services environments, especially local government and municipal services.

"Miraculum`s key competencies lie in cost effective outsourcing as well as programme and project management," says De Koch. "We offer services around incorporating new procurement processes, streamlining supplier relationship management, integrating supply chain processes with ERP and other transactional systems. In addition we have the know-how to handle the change management that goes with new process enablement."

After undergoing a management buyout from its previous shareholders, Miraculum recently entered into a transaction with high-profile black empowerment investment holding company, J&J Group. J&J has acquired 51% of the company, with Chris Jardine appointed as chairman.

Jardine, who is also the COO of J&J, says: "J&J will play an active role in developing the evolving strategy and business of Miraculum. We are looking forward to bringing together J&J`s business networks in key growth markets, with Miraculum`s IT knowledge and experience and back-office systems expertise built on Oracle technology and applications."

Miraculum is rapidly growing from its core of supply chain and procurement expertise into a supplier of hosted ERP solutions and related value-added services.

"Our partnership with Oracle Corporation South Africa is key to building on the current successes in order to grow the new Miraculum," Jardine concludes.
