MIS Corporate Defense Solutions (MIS CDS) has gained the rights to market WatchGuard firewall systems with immediate effect.
WatchGuard is one of the few hardware-based firewall systems in the market and provides users with high levels of security, such as triple-DES encryption, says MIS CDS channel manager, Dharmesh Mohan Dullabh. "In addition, the WatchGuard firewall costs a fraction of what the leading firewall solution in South Africa costs," he adds.
Dullabh points out that providing an easy to use firewall with comprehensive security functionality at a lower cost opens the door for medium-sized enterprises to obtain a full firewall solution to keep their networks and data secure. "This level of security does not have to be the domain of high-end corporations."
MIS CDS is finalising a distribution deal with one of South Africa`s largest IT distributors, the details of which will be released soon. The company has committed to a two-phased approach to the South African market. It will work through the channel for products that offer point solutions, but has also established a solutions model, incorporating firewalls, VPNs and end-to-end security solutions.
"We will deal directly with corporate customers in deals that need specialised security consulting and services," says Dullabh, "but we will also provide the necessary assistance to our channel to ensure that we have the strongest presence possible".
WatchGuard automatically blocks TCP/IP services not specifically authorised to pass through the corporate firewall into internal networks. It also provides outbound privilege management and allows administrators to control access to objectionable material. The focus behind WatchGuard is based on a service-centric model, which focuses on the services being allowed into and out of a network. This eliminates the complex set of allowed/denied rules and displays a Services Arena GUI to show current configuration information.
