Mitel addresses small business demands

Mitel 3300CX, a means of offering small to medium businesses (SMBs) enterprise-class IP telephony applications such as Teleworking
Johannesburg, 25 Jul 2005

Mitel, a leading provider of IP communications solutions, has announced the availability of the Mitel 3300CX platform. The 3300CX, for the first time, offers SMBs the entire portfolio of "office in a box" IP telephony applications, previously only available to large enterprises, including teleworking, presence and video conferencing.

Supporting Mitel`s entire family of IP telephony products, the 3300CX gives small businesses or branch offices the full benefits of IP telephony at an affordable price.

Customers of Mitel`s new products will be offered the 3300CX as a fully integrated system, offering voice, video and data over broadband for every user. Other applications available to users will include voicemail, auto attendant, caller ID screen pops that link to customer data, and the latest generation XML applications.

Small businesses keen to maximise their existing investment in IT can use the new Mitel products to integrate e-mail services popular with SMBs such as Hotmail, in addition to Microsoft, Lotus and ACT environments. The new Mitel 3300CX product offers full IP security including firewall, data router and NAT. SMB users can also take advantage of the 16-port layer two data switch, supporting industry standard power for telephony devices which enables a further reduction in the cost of deploying VOIP into small offices.

"While SMBs have been able to take advantage of low-cost IP telephony through products and solutions already available, our new 3300CX product presents a true industry first," said Andy Bull, director for Mitel in SA.

"Small organisations can now use IP telephony to work from remote locations, communicate using online `presence` applications through video, voice and data, and they can take advantage of the cost benefits made possible by communicating over a converged IP network," continues Bull.
