Mitel, the trusted provider of unified communications software solutions, has announced the availability of the Mitel Multi-Instance Communications Director (MICD), a scalable, high-density, and flexible communication services platform for enterprises and service providers.
MICD delivers multiple instances of the award-winning Mitel Communications Director call control software available on industry-standard servers.
Enterprises can reduce costs and greatly simplify management by delivering centralised IP communications for large numbers of users and locations, while maintaining the flexibility of a distinct PBX for each customer. Using MICD, service providers can deliver cloud-based, enterprise-class unified communications services to their small and medium-size business customers.
The scalability of MICD provides organisations with the flexibility to easily accommodate more users or customers without adding servers or losing features. MICD delivers efficiencies that can directly reduce costs for enterprises and improve margins for service providers. These efficiencies include simplified solution and customer management, server and real estate consolidation, power savings, and consolidated trunking across sites or customers.
MICD accommodates rich integrated unified communications (UC) feature set, including Mitel Unified Communicator (UC) Express, Mitel Dynamic Extension, embedded conferencing, and embedded voicemail with standard unified messaging and can easily be complemented with other Mitel UC applications.
"By providing multiple PBX instances with common management on industry standard servers, MICD is the ideal solution for both enterprises and service providers wanting to deploy communications in the cloud," said Elka Popova, North American programme director, unified communications, Frost & Sullivan.
"It provides a real strategic advantage to organisations because it greatly improves the flexibility and speed of deployment of centralised, enterprise-class IP telephony," said Popova.
"With the announcement of MICD, Mitel is the first and only vendor to offer a software-based communication services platform that enables organisations to deliver enterprise-class unified communications in the cloud," says Andy Bull, managing director for Mitel South Africa.
“Now organisations can manage voice like any other application in their data centre and still maintain the rich feature set delivered by Mitel call control software," said Bull.
