Mitel Networks chooses Cable & Wireless to help SMEs think 'out of the box`

New joint solution provides simplified voice and data communications for small and medium enterprises
Johannesburg, 22 Nov 2002

Mitel Networks has announced a relationship with Cable & Wireless that will see the launch of a powerful new solution designed to provide small and medium enterprises (SMEs) with robust, yet cost-effective, communications solutions that are extremely easy to manage.

The solution includes a voice communications system, voicemail and auto-attendant, local area network (LAN) and network services. Through the combination of Mitel Networks` small enterprise solutions and Cable & Wireless` voice and data services, small offices can now enjoy large enterprise benefits with a single point of contact for all their voice and data communications needs.

Delivered via accredited Mitel Networks Solution Provider ROCOM, the `Office in a Box` service options are designed to provide SMEs from five to 20 employees with access to a range of subscription-based applications including broadband Internet access, automatic virus protection, e-mail backup and FreeCall, LocalCall and PremiumCall numbers. By using the Cable & Wireless data network, SMEs are also able to network branch offices and provide employees with shared access to business-critical applications.

"The `Office in a Box` has been designed by experts in business services to ensure fast and reliable connectivity as well as expert support to customers," explains Eamonn Dullaghan, vice-president of indirect and partner sales, Cable and Wireless.

"The service will provide business owners with one point of contact and will be simple to understand, simple to implement and simple to run."

"The `Office in a Box` solution has been developed as part of a series of initiatives currently being undertaken by ourselves and Cable & Wireless," says Andy Bull, Mitel Networks Africa director.

"This comprehensive service, based on Mitel Networks` small business solutions and Cable & Wireless` reliable and secure communications services, is a highly effective answer to the business challenges facing the SME," says Bull.

What is within the `Office in a Box`?

The service includes communications infrastructure provided by Cable & Wireless, a LAN designed to connect office PCs together, multi-function telephone system including voicemail and a file/print-sharing server which enables employees to work collaboratively on documents and share printers. It also has a secure firewall to protect the business from unauthorised Internet use and access.

Subscription-based services available on demand include; automatic virus protection, e-mail backup, 24X7 monitoring, SMS text messaging, FreeCall, LocalCall and PremiumCall numbers.
