Mitel Networks teams with Atreus Systems to offer high-speed Internet service to hotels

Mitel Networks has announced the signing of a letter of intent to form an alliance with Atreus Systems, US-based innovator of broadband service creation and delivery platform.

Under this agreement, Atreus` advanced Broadband Services Creation Platform will anchor Mitel`s new Managed Broadband Services (MBS), enabling new revenues for hoteliers by providing high-speed internet, making guest and meeting rooms a secure, fast and easy extension of the business travellers` corporate LAN. NetCom CRM chief operating officer Gary Shepherd says the selection of the Atreus platform follows an extensive search by Mitel to identify the most advanced solution available.

"Atreus` Broadband Service Creation platform combined with Mitel`s MBS brings ultimate flexibility to the hotel front desk staff by allowing them to control the activation of Internet access, as well as differentiated Web content and service fees by room, by floor, or by property. Another industry-leading Atreus capability is Routable IP Addressing, which, upon demand, assigns guests a unique Internet `address`, allowing participation in online video conferencing and Webcasting.

"To further bring the office into the guestroom, the Atreus platform allows guests to directly connect to their corporate LAN. And with Atreus` `click and print` capability, guests can instantly print to a local hotel printer - regardless of which printer driver is installed on their laptop.

"By using Atreus as part of our Managed Broadband Services offering we are able to provide an innovative and practical business model that addresses the needs of the industry. This will enable hotels to attract new revenues, differentiate their services, and enhance customer loyalty," he adds.

For over 20 years Mitel has maintained a strong position of leadership in technology services and ongoing support for the hotel industry. This leadership is further built upon with the introduction of hospitality solutions that generate new revenue, reduce operational costs and increase employee productivity. With a strong migration strategy in place, Mitel allows hotels to migrate to a converged infrastructure on their own terms, providing a smooth, seamless transition.

"The alliance with Atreus is another indication of Mitel`s long standing commitment to craft the solutions needed to fulfil the communications needs of the hospitality industry, including rapidly expanding IP broadband service needs," said Ron Westfall, senior analyst, Broadband Infrastructure for Current Analysis. "With the Atreus platform, Mitel will be able to offer its customers a scaleable platform that allows value-add services to be efficiently and rapidly deployed."
