Mitel receives 2006 Product of the Year award from Communications Solutions Magazine

Continuing its history and commitment to developing innovative communications solutions, Mitel has announced that three products in its comprehensive portfolio - Mitel Your Assistant, Mitel Quick Conference and the Mitel 5340 IP Phone - have each been awarded the Communications Solutions 2006 Product of the Year.

The seventh annual Product of the Year award is presented by Technology Marketing Corporation's (TMC) Communications Solutions, to recognise the vision, leadership and attention to detail that are the hallmarks of the prestigious award.

Your Assistant is an advanced desktop productivity tool that provides phone, person and computer presence for the knowledge worker and mobile worker.

It delivers secure instant messaging (IM), Web collaboration, video conferencing, knowledge management and drag-and-drop conferencing.

Its fully-featured soft phone allows road warriors and teleworkers to securely communicate and collaborate from any location, with a high-speed Internet connection without the need for a virtual private network (VPN) connection.

Quick Conference provides a simple, flexible and scalable audio conferencing solution that supports up to 200 audio channels. Quick Conference's low cost allows businesses to conduct more conference calls and takes advantage of increased collaboration opportunities among employees, customers and partners.

Users can take advantage of the flexibility of simple ad hoc conferencing by setting up conference calls "on the fly", from any location at any time, without operator assistance.

A user simply dials into the conference bridge to join or initiate a conference call.

Mitel 5340 IP Phone

The Mitel 5340 IP Phone is designed to provide greater interoperability and desktop ease-of-use, along with more choice, flexibility and convergence.

Available on the 5340 IP Phone, the HTML Toolkit for the 5340 IP Phone provides an easy-to-use way to create rich graphical phone applications, using standard Web-authoring tools. This toolkit allows rapid development of applications that integrate the phone into key business processes.

Using intelligent directory functionality (Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Active Directory), the interactive LCD screens on Mitel 5330 and 5340 IP Phones can now display corporate and personal directories as well as presence status. Search capabilities using the phone dial pad and soft keys display all the phone numbers for a particular contact, to take the guesswork out of reaching people.
