Mitel (NASDAQ: MITL), a leading provider of unified communications software solutions, has released version 3.2 of its Unified Communicator (UC) Advanced solution.
This release allows BlackBerry smartphone users to mobilise and gain access to Mitel UC features available through UC Advanced. The BlackBerry smartphone application, Mitel UC Advanced Mobile, is available for download on BlackBerry App World.
UC Advanced is a software client that allows users single-portal access to all collaboration tools, including desk phone, soft phone, mobile devices, visual voice mail, secure instant messaging, presence, audio and Web conferencing, desktop videoconferencing, document sharing, and e-mail. The Mitel solution enhances organisational efficiency and connects the right people and information automatically and effectively.
"With so many employees on the road at customer sites or field offices globally, UC Advanced Mobile for BlackBerry smartphones will allow our employees to easily access corporate voicemail, click-to-dial from the corporate address book using internal extensions, or check another employee's presence status," said Andy Bull, managing director for Mitel South Africa.
"These kinds of capabilities will help employees stay connected with the office, improve their productivity, and ultimately increase our customer satisfaction," said Bull.
UC Advanced Mobile provides access for BlackBerry smartphones users to corporate UC information and tools, improving employee mobility and productivity. The application uses location-based services - GPS and Bluetooth - natively present in a BlackBerry smartphone to automatically update status information and call routing preferences.
"By facilitating access for enterprise BlackBerry smartphone users to their key business applications available from Mitel, UC Advanced Mobile helps simplify communication and collaboration between employees, enabling true corporate mobility. Employees can get instant access to corporate contact information, presence details, call history, visual voice mail, and Dynamic Status settings, regardless of location," said Bull.
