Multimedia Warehouse (MMW) has been appointed as a sub-distributor of the range of Sony digital cameras, Michael Stanley, marketing manager for MMW, says the decision to take on the Sony distributorship has been motivated by the growth in the digital camera market.
"Digital camera's are rapidly entering the mainstream and is a product that fits well with our existing range of audio visual and graphics products," he says.
"Although digital cameras are popular as PC peripherals, the technology has matured sufficiently to attract the broader consumer market."
MMW expect the digital cameras to perform well in the home-user market and will take advantage of its relationships with retail outlets to distribute the Sony products.
"In addition to our retail distribution business we see reseller selling the digital camera as part of a complete technology solution and marketing the more advanced products in the range.
"The mass retail outlets, however, will generally be marketing the entry level products, although MMW will make the high-end cameras available to specialist stores," concludes Stanley.
