Prospective learner drivers don't need to use books to prepare for their learner's licence test any more, provided they have an iPhone or Android device.
This is according to Lucky Mobile, which has released a mobile application, Easy K53, which lets individuals test their knowledge before taking the learner licence test.
Laurence Seberini, Lucky Mobile MD, says the application takes a results-based approach to learning. He adds that the application makes use of real-time feedback, which allows learners to identify and focus on areas of the syllabus that require additional work. “Since the learning material is self contained within the practice section, this means that no physical book is necessary,” he says.
Seberini explains that the app is split into two main sections: a practice mode, where learners can revise sections of the K53 syllabus, and a test mode, where learners can take tests that mimic the actual learner's licence test.
Furthermore, once the test has been completed, learners are given a breakdown of their test results, allowing them to identify areas that need revision.
According to Seberini, the Easy K53 app can be purchased on the iTunes store for $3.99.
The application is available on iOS 4.0 and Android devices. Seberini says the Android version can be obtained from the Vodacom Apps store for free for an undefined limited period.
According to Lucky Mobile, the application will also be released for BlackBerry phones. However, the company will not release a Symbian version, because the Symbian operating system is “on the decline”.
The iOS version can be downloaded here and the Android version can be downloaded here.
