Acuo Technologies (Pty) Limited has released the Mobile Automated Service Call Management System (MASC) Application Service Provider (ASP) edition, aimed at small to medium-sized service companies.
The ASP MASC system provides a field service call management system that allows the automatic routing of service call information between a Web-based server application and the mobile device of a service engineer in the field, using GPRS as the wireless networking medium. This edition of MASC allows companies with between five and 50 field service staff the opportunity to access this solution without having to pay outright for its development or infrastructure. All that is required is an online Internet connection such as ADSL and PDAs for staff in the field.
"MASC enables field staff, who are often the face of an organisation, to have instant access to critical information. For example, service staff could access service history, stock levels of spares, service manuals and pricing information for preparing quotations on the fly. They are able to capture and send field information back to the office, such as time spent travelling to and working on a job, spares used, and equipment usage. MASC eliminates duplicate data capture and paper-based processes and provides field staff productivity information for management purposes," says Carl Kies, General Manager of Acuo Technologies.
One client evaluating the system noted: "I am pleased by how cheap it is to communicate with my field staff using MASC. We used to spend between R20 and R30 a day on voice calls to each field engineer every day, we now spend about 10 cents a day. In addition, we are able to lease the fully supported software and hosting on a monthly basis."
MASC ASP has application beyond field service, and is being customised for use in sales force automation, specialist logistics, audit and survey, and by mobile executives.
The MASC system is developed in the Microsoft .NET environment, ensuring the longevity and maintainability of the system. This also ensures new features can be introduced rapidly and will run on any device (including mobile phones and PDAs) that supports the Microsoft .NET compact framework.
