David Palmer-Stevens, an international authority on mobile networking and the director of business development at Enterasys Networks in the UK, is to visit SA.
He will be a keynote speaker at the E-Net Africa 2001 networking technologies conference and exhibition in Johannesburg on 26, 27 and 28 August 2001.
E-Net Africa 2001 is presented by Enterasys Networks in association with its alliance partner in SA, Duxbury Networking.
Palmer-Stevens will address key issues surrounding the concept of mobile networking centring on the global reach of the Internet.
His presentation will focus on virtual private networking (VPN) technology and its role in delivering solutions for mobile access, telecommuting, branch office and regional site connectivity.
He will examine solutions to the problems associated with the connection of travelling employees to the virtual network enabling them to utilise central applications and databases.
He will address a wide range of technical issues surrounding the topic, including security architectures, high-performance encryption and compression of PPTP and IPsec tunnels, as well as centralised authentication, policy-based access control, together with configuration and fault management challenges.
