Mobility an EA game-changer

Enterprise applications and businesses processes going mobile on powerful devices and faster networks was identified as a top trend in enterprise architecture (EA) by analysts at Forrester Research, states WinShuttle.

The increased use of mobile applications and processes was named the number eight trend. Forrester Research says the move to more mobile apps and processes will bring about “greater efficiency and compliance.”

“IT must add mobile support to applications and will be challenged to manage and secure mobile devices and networks,” advises Forrester as widespread use of both becomes common.

Troux software placed as leader

Troux Technologies, a provider of strategic IT planning and EA software, has been positioned by Gartner in the leader's quadrant in the 'Magic Quadrant for Enterprise Architecture Tools' report, writes TMCNet.

According to a release, the Magic Quadrant placements are drawn from rigorous evaluation around two primary axes: completeness of vision and ability to execute.

"We believe our position in the leader's quadrant is largely due to our unrelenting focus on delivering business value and ensuring our customer's success with strategic IT planning and the next generation of enterprise architecture,” says David Hood, CEO of Troux Technologies.

US Air Force ups EA

The family tree of the US Air Force's business systems is a sprawling behemoth, and one air force unit is toiling to trace the relationships among business strategies, business processes and the systems that support them, says Defense Systems.

After five years, the 643rd Electronic Systems Squadron's EA Group is about halfway through a project intended to deliver a comprehensive view of the interrelationships among those critical resources.

The squadron is part of the 554th Electronic Systems Wing, a unit of the Air Force Electronic Systems Centre at Hanscom Air Force Base, Mass. The wing develops, fields, sustains and operates worldwide computer communications and force protection systems and capabilities.
