MobiTV, Deutsche Telekom partner

US mobile video technology provider, MobiTV, which has filed for an IPO, signed a deal with Deutsche Telekom, its first major break in the European market, The Baltimore Sun reports.

MobiTV's platform will give Deutsche Telekom's IPTV clients access to their live or on-demand programmes on tablets or smartphones.

According to the telco, TV or video on-the-go has increased rapidly over the last few years stemming from the proliferation of tablets and smartphones with large screens that can access TV programmes over the Internet.

MobiTV's TV Everywhere solution supports Deutsche Telekom's converged service offering that will expand the delivery of live TV and on-demand programming to multiple screens, The Sacramento Bee states.

MobiTV CEO Charlie Nooney says: "Deutsche Telekom has acknowledged this shift in the market. It is well prepared to meet the demand for 'TV everywhere' through the integration of MobiTV's TV Everywhere solution into their service ecosystem to support content delivery and other critical backend services."

According to Nooney in a Market Watch report, consumer acceptance of TV on mobile platforms has opened the door to multi-screen offerings that will allow broadcasters, cable operators and pay TV providers to extend the delivery of primetime shows, live sporting events and video-on-demand services.
